what is sound healing?
“Sound healing is the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the body/mind of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony and health”. Simon Heather, College of Sound Healing.
Sound healing is the use of sounds (generated from sound healing instruments such as gongs, crystal singing bowls and pyramids, drums, rattles, tuning forks, wind chimes and ting sha etc) and the human voice to activate healing within your body and mind. The individual vibrations and frequencies created by each instrument and sound is directed around you (when you lie fully clothed on a healing couch) along with the specific intent to heal.
how does it work?
The sound re-balances any blocked vibrations in your body/mind by the method of entraining the blocked frequency to adjust to a new more balanced resonance.
what happens in a sound healing?
You will lie on a healing couch (or sit on a chair) fully clothed whilst the sounds (using voice, gongs, crystal singing bowls and pyramids, tuning forks and chimes) are created around you. During the session which lasts c. 45 mins - 1 hour, many people often fall asleep or they may enter into a deeply peaceful space, all of which is very normal. After a session many people report feeling clearer, and more energised as if waking from a night's sleep totally refreshed. They also feel that any stress they came to the healing with has been lifted with little or no effort on their part - they just laid down and relaxed!
At the end of the session I will discuss with you any blockages that came up and were addressed, so that if further work on these is needed that we can discuss a treatment plan. I have witnessed in people how a sound healing has brought them many benefits including immediate and long-term pain relief, stress reduction and enhanced energy levels, to name but a few.
how effective is it?
I've seen profound results after sound healings in the following ways:
pain relief both in the short and longer term
healing past injury
resolution of deep seated emotional trauma or issues
healing childhood trauma
improved physical and emotional energy levels
clarity on emotional and life issues/decisions and direction
Rudolph Steiner said "There will come a time when a diseased condition will not be described as it is today by physicians and psychologists, but it will be spoken of in musical terms, as one would speak of a piano that was out of tune."
